5% of sales support Iowa water quality programs
You've heard it on the news, you've read the articles,
and you felt it last summer when Iowa's waterways hit record nitrate levels.
The early indicators are 2026 is not going to be any better.
Iowa nitrate levels hit record highs in 2025 — 20+ mg/L in some watersheds
600,000+ Iowans affected by lawn watering bans due to nitrate levels (2025)
Standard filters (Brita, PUR, fridge) do NOT remove nitrates — only reverse osmosis does
High nitrate exposure is linked to health risks, including some cancers
Iowa ranks 2nd in cancer rates in US and is one of only two states with rising cancer rates
The problem is getting worse, not better, as agricultural runoff increases each year

Unfortunately, no. Brita, PUR, and refrigerator filters use activated carbon, which improves taste and removes chlorine but does not remove nitrates. Iowa's water problem is primarily a nitrate problem, and reverse osmosis is the only technology that reliably addresses it at the household level. Our system removes up to 98% or more of nitrates, along with lead, PFAS, arsenic, and over 1,000 other contaminants.
Most customers are up and running in about 30 minutes using basic hand tools. The under-sink installation involves connecting a cold water line and attaching the dedicated faucet. No plumber is required. If you would like support along the way, we are local and happy to refer you to a trusted professional.
Yes, you can! Hooking the system up to your refrigerator does require a few additional parts and about $20, but we are happy to point you in the right direction.
Nitrates are colorless, odorless, and tasteless — you can't detect them without a test. Iowa's record nitrate levels in 2025 affect both municipal and well water across the state. The health risks from long-term nitrate exposure don't show up as taste or smell.
Both. The SWI-600B+ works on any standard under-sink water line — whether you're on municipal water or a private well. If you're on a well, this is especially important since no one is required to test or treat your water.
